Antonio Cromartie Could Become New York Jets Free Agent Target
By Tony Fischer
The Arizona Cardinals lost defensive coordinator Todd Bowles after he left to become head coach for the New York Jets but the defense may be in danger of losing another key member.
Shortly after the announcement the Todd Bowles was leaving for New York, Antonio Cromartie took to twitter and had glowing remarks for his coach.
This followed a tweet for a day earlier when he tweeted a picture with he and his wife referencing his “last game”.
The conclusion drawn by those tweets might be a stretch but at least one other member of the Arizona media thinks it could mean Cromartie could become a free agent target for the Jets.
Cromartie signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals prior to the 2014 season amidst criticism that he had lost a step the previous season in New York. He had spent the 4 season in New York and by all indications was happy there but criticism of his play by then GM John Idzik soured the relationship.
With new GM Mike MacCagnan and Head Coach Todd Bowles calling the shots, could the Jets make an effort to bring Antonio Cromartie back to New York? Cromartie has a connection with the area and now the head coach and a return to the Jets may present and enticing opportunity.
Granted there has been no official comment by the Jets as players are not officially free agent’s until after the Superbowl but this is a potential developing story fans should keep an eye on.
