Arizona Crushes Cal 73-50

The No. 7 Arizona Wildcats ended their two game road trip in the bay area 2-0 with a 73-50 win over the California Golden Bears.

Stanley Johnson led Arizona in scoring with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Dusan Ristic had 12 points in 19 minutes of playing time (season-high) as he gave a huge spark off the bench to help with the win.

Johnson is now averaging 14.8 points a game this season leading the Wildcats in scoring. Kaleb Tarczewski had 10 points with only 3 rebounds also helping the Wildcats to victory.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and TJ McConnell only had a combined 14 points tonight for Arizona, not showing off double digit points for the first time in a couple games. Many players like Ristic, Gabe York, and Elliott Pitts had very valuable minutes to the team tonight.

David Kravish and Jordan Matthews both had 16 points, Kravish also had 11 rebounds obtaining a double-double. Cal’s bench scored a whopping zero points tonight, hurting the Golden Bears offense badly.

The Bears now have a 11-9 record on the season with a 1-6 record in the Pac 12.Cal has played a very tough schedule this year losing to Wisconsin and Texas and beating Syracuse. Cal will go on a road trip to rainy Washington State to play the Cougars on the 29th and Washington on the 1st of February.

With this win, Arizona improves to 18-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Pac 12. They will head home to play Oregon at home on the 28th. They have already beat the Ducks on the road this season 80-62. Arizona will look to improve even more in conference to secure a top seed in the NCAA tournament.
