Morris Brothers Of Suns Being Investigated In Assault Case

Markieff Morris and his brother Marcus have made plenty of news on the court this season, but they may now be making some off of it.

The twin brothers are being looked at as possible suspects in an assault case, according to CBS 5.

Here are the details from CBS 5 on the early stages of this investigation.

"Police confirm they are investigating an alleged assault that occurred around 7:30 p.m. Saturday outside a gym near 15th Avenue and Colter in central Phoenix. They would not release the name of those involved but sources tell CBS 5 News the Morris brothers are being looked at as suspects in the crime."

Obviously, with this news breaking this evening, its way too early to jump to conclusions. Just because both of them are being looked at as possible suspects, doesn’t necessarily mean they did anything wrong. We will have to go through the entire investigation before we find that out.

It’s definitely sad to see this come to light though, especially with the seasons these two youngsters have had.

Markieff has really taken off this season with being a full-time starter for the first time in his career. Heading into tonight’s game, Kieff was averaging 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 46 games this season. Everything hasn’t been great though as he has had 10 technical fouls on the year, good for second in the league behind Russell Westbrook.

Earning a career high in minutes, Marcus has put up career numbers in pretty much every category (points, assists, field goal percentage and three-point percentage). In 46 games this year, including 18 starts, the former first round pick is averaging 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

As a Suns fan, you have to cross your fingers that these two indeed aren’t part of this. They both have been critical parts of the Suns success this season and you don’t want anything to jeopardize that. In years past, this organization had a zero tolerance policy with players who would get in trouble with the law.
