Wildcats Sweep Season Series Over Ducks

The No. 6 Arizona Wildcats beat the Oregon Ducks 90-56 tonight in Tucson, sweeping them on the season. The Ducks came out looking clean in their new uniforms, but not even that could take control of the Arizona offense.

Arizona’s starting five all had double digits in points scored with 13 from Brandon Ashley, but surprisingly Gabe York came off the bench tonight leading the team in scoring with 16 points.

Most of the bench had a lot of minutes because of the Wildcats 42-27 lead at half. Stanley Johnson had another productive night from the field with 12 points and six rebounds helping the Wildcats to another win. Arizona’s high powered offense was in full effect once again tonight.

Oregon had a quiet night on offense scoring only 56 points with Elgin Cook leading the way with 16 points.

Arizona was hot off the start hitting 18 of their 30 shots. Their bench has been the most productive it’s ever been all season scoring 35 points.

The Wildcats now improve to 19-2 with a 7-1 record in the Pac 12 with a solid lead over Utah and Stanford. Oregon will have to find a way to win out all of their games to have a chance at making the NCAA tournament. Arizona has outscored the Ducks this season 170-118 in two games and they now have the second longest home winning streak in the nation.

Arizona will host Oregon State on the Friday, hoping to gain a win against the Beavers after losing to them in Corvallis earlier this month. Look for the Wildcats to come out hungry with wanting their 20th win on the season.
