Arizona State started out hot from the outside against Oregon State and continued their hot shooting throughout the first half en route to a 73-55 victory.

After falling behind 7-3 in the first three minutes of the game the Sun Devils used an 18-3 run to gain a 21-10 lead. In the 18-3 run Jonathan Gilling nailed two three-pointers, while Tra Holder and Bo Barnes each connected on one three-pointer apiece.

Barnes would make two more three-pointers in the first half and Gerry Blakes also added a three-pointer of his own before the half-time buzzer sounded with Arizona State leading 40-23.

After making eight threes in the first half the Sun Devils slowed down in the second half making just one from beyond the arc. Although the outside shooting slowed down the offensive efficiency continued. Arizona State pushed the lead to 22 points in the second half and maintained a double-digit throughout the remainder of the game.

On a night where three-pointers were the main story line for Arizona State, Shaquille McKissick led the Sun Devils in scoring with 17 points while missing his one and only three-point attempt. Blakes, Holder, and Barnes also joined McKissing in double-digit scoring as the foursome scored 53 of the Sun Devils’ 73 points.

Arizona State was extremely efficient from the charity stripe on Wednesday going 18-23 from the line. In contrast, Oregon State was a measly 3-8 from the free throw line. Although the Beavers shot 49% from the field, they were just 2-9 from beyond the arc.

With the victory Arizona State (11-10, 3-5) improved to 26-3 in their last 29 home contests. The Sun Devils have also won the past six home games against Oregon State (14-6, 5-3).

The Arizona State Sun Devils will return to action on Friday night when they host the Oregon Ducks at Wells Fargo Arena at 8:00 p.m. MST.
