In the offseason following the 2007-2008 season, the Boston Celtics brought aboard Garnett and Ray Allen to join Paul Pierce as the first modern day “big three”. Boston General Manager Danny Ainge traded Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, and two first round draft picks to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Garnett. Although Ainge gave up tons of assets in the trade, it paid off well as the Celtics would go on to win the NBA championship behind Garnett, Allen, and Pierce.
