Cardinals: Interested in Brian Orakpo

facebooktwitterreddit

It was tweeted on Tuesday morning that the Arizona Cardinals would like to add Brian Orakpo to their defense for the upcoming season.

Ian Rapoport was the first to release details of the Cardinals interest. Apparently, they are even “the one to watch” according to Rapoport.

Orakpo has played in 71 career games over the span of six seasons for the Washington Redskins. He has totaled 255 tackles, 40 sacks, and has forced six fumbles in his career. He also had a pick-six in the 2013 season for Washington.

The three-time Pro-Bowl outside linebacker would be a huge acquisition for Arizona. The Cardinals are in dire need of a stud pass-rusher and Orakpo may be the perfect fit for this need. If Arizona is able to corral Orakpo, he would join Sean Weatherspoon and Corey Peters as newcomers for the defensive front-seven.

Time is still young in free agency, but this would be a major splash if the Cardinals are able to pull it off. Be sure to stay with us here at Heat Waved as we will have more details on the Orakpo situation as it unravels.
