Suns: Extend Streak to Four, Beat Mavericks
By Eli Burk
It was a hard fought game, but the Suns came out with a quality win tonight against the Dallas Mavericks by a final score of 98-92.
Eric Bledsoe led the way for all scorers with 20 points adding nine assists, three steals and two blocks.
For the Mavericks, Chandler Parsons finished with 19 points, and four rebounds. Amar’e Stoudemire finished with 16 points and four rebounds.
It wasn’t a great shooting display for the Suns from deep. Despite shooting 51.3 percent from the field, the Suns shot 28.6 percent from beyond the arc. As we slowly approach the end of the season, it will be crucial for the Suns to capitalize on their opportunities from long range.
The Suns played solid defense as a team, keeping the Mavericks at 38.5 percent shooting from the field and 26.3 percent from beyond the arc. As a team the Suns had 10 steals and seven blocks tonight.
With the win the Suns are now sitting in the 9th spot in the Western Conference with a 38-33 record. Phoenix is just 2.5 games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and only a half game up on the New Orleans Pelicans. With only 11 games left this season for Phoenix, every game is crucial.
Dallas now falls to 44-27 on the season and sitting in the seventh seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
The Suns have a very difficult week as they host the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, and a HUGE game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It doesn’t get any easier as we look towards the future with six of their final 11 games on the road. But tonight, a solid win against a very good Western Conference playoff team.
