As I mentioned earlier this week in my preseason power rankings I have Stanton predicted as my National League MVP award winner. Part of that prediction also included Stanton hitting 50 bombs in 2015, which is possible.
Stanton, 25, has already hit 154 home runs in his career and has a 162-game average of 39 home runs and 102 RBI. If he can remain healthy and play somewhere between 150 and 155 games this year, I don’t see why Stanton won’t be able to come close to 50 home runs.
Last season, Stanton finished second in NL MVP voting behind Kershaw as the lefty had one of the best pitching performances over the course of a season in MLB history. Even with Kershaw having such a tremendous season, Stanton was still fairly close behind in the voting, but will overcome this year and go from being the runner-up to winning his first MVP award.
