Archie Bradley Era Kicks Off Tonight For D’Backs

Fresh off their walk-off victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers last night from Chase Field, the Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to grab their second straight win this evening over their division rival.

The game tonight officially begins the era of Archie Bradley in a Diamondbacks uniform. Arizona’s prized young arm will face Clayton Kershaw, the best pitcher in all of baseball.

Bradley won a spot in the Arizona rotation thanks to his strong spring. In 22 1/3 innings tossed, Bradley posted a very impressive 1.61 ERA. In his final spring outing, the 22-year-old threw six scoreless innings against the Cincinnati Reds and had a no-hitter going until the sixth inning.

The handful of quality starts that Bradley put together during the spring helped led the way to the front office trading away Trevor Cahill, now a member of the Atlanta Braves. In a perfect world, Bradley will remain in the D’Backs rotation for several years as a staff ace, something this team is currently lacking at the moment.

You can expect Bradley to have some butterflies in his stomach tonight. After all, he is making his major league debut and he has to go against the greatest pitcher that the game has to offer at the moment to boot.

Bradley does have one big thing going for him though. Unlike a lot of young pitchers who are brought to the big leagues during the middle of the season, Bradley has had time to prepare. For several days now, he’s known when he was going to pitch and he was going to face.

For a young pitcher with no major league experience, it’s important to be comfortable and get into a consistent routine. Hopefully that helps Bradley tonight in his debut.

No matter what the result turns out to be tonight, let’s just enjoy Bradley getting to the big show. This guy has the potential to be this organization’s ace for the next decade if the stars align and everything goes according to plan.

That journey begins tonight in a few short hours.
