The Arizona Diamondbacks will play their first regular season game away from Chase Field Monday night when they travel to San Diego to take on the Padres.

The D-Backs are coming off a relatively successful homestand where they went 3-3 against the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dbacks dropped the series against the Giants, but did manage to take two out of three from LA.

The Padres, meanwhile, went 4-3 in the first week of the regular season. The lost two of three against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, but took three out of four contests from the Giants at Petco Park.

The Padres combination of good pitching and a dominating offense helped lead to the series win against the defending World Champions, something the Dbacks struggled to do.

The Padres scored 17 runs compared to just seven for Giants during the four-game series last weekend.

The Padres/Giants series opened up the Giants 1-0 win in 12 innings on Thursday night. The Padres answered right back with a 1-0 win of their own on Friday night. Then things took off. The Padres won Saturday 10-2 and Sunday 6-4.

The Dbacks, on the other hand, are coming in with momentum of their own, having taken two of three from the defending NL West Champions.

Last season, the Dbacks were pretty successful against San Diego, beating them 12 times over the 19 games they faced each other.

A revamped Padres team might lead to a different story here in 2015. Here’s the pitching matchups for the three-game set.

Monday: Rubby De La Rosa  vs. Andrew Cashner

De La Rosa (1-0) last pitched on Tuesday against the Giants where he picked up his first win of the season after the Dbacks defeated San Fransisco 7-6 . In his outing, he went 5 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on eight hits. The young right-hander also walked two batters and struck out five.

Cashner (0-1) pitched on Wednesday against the Dodgers. In that game, he gave up six runs, five earned in five innings of work. He allowed eight hits and three walks while striking out six.

Tuesday: Jeremy Hellickson (ARZ) vs. Odrisamer Despaigne (SD)

Hellickson (0-1) is looking for his first win of 2015 after taking the loss against the San Francisco on Wednesday. The Giants scored three runs off of Hellickson. The right-hander surrendered nine hits, two walks and only struck out twice.

Despaigne enters his second season with the Padres. Last season he went 4-7 and posted a 3.36 ERA in 96 1/3 innings pitched. So far this year, he has appeared in one game (that would be the April 9 game against the Giants) and walked away with a no decision after going 4 2/3 innings.

Wednesday: Chase Anderson (ARZ) vs. Brandon Morrow (SD)

Anderson got a no decision in the Friday night win against the Dodgers after going five innings and giving up just three runs on five hits.

Morrow is also looking for his first win of the season after throwing seven scoreless innings against the Giants. Morrow allowed just four hits and walked three while striking out seven in his appearance.
