Arizona State wins series at Washington

There was no shortage of excitement in the last game of the series between the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Washington Huskies in Seattle. The Devils took the series on the road two games to one.

Friday’s meeting between the two Pac-12 opponents took until the bottom of the eighth inning for someone to separate themselves. They entered the frame tied 6-6. The Huskies exploded for a three run eighth inning rally that the Sun Devils couldn’t recover from and took the first game by a score of 9-7.

Saturday’s game was the Ryan Kellogg show as he went 8 innings earning his seventh win and improving the teams record to 12-5 in one run games. He had help from the bats as Colby Woodmansee went 2-4 with a home run and double. Ryan Burr came in in the ninth inning and gave up a leadoff single before striking out the next three batters to earn his 11th save.

The rubber match on Sunday afternoon was the cherry on top. Arizona State came out on top 6-5 after 10 innings of baseball. A go ahead double from Zach Cerbo gave the Devils the one run they needed as Burr stepped for yet another save.

The Sun Devils will head down to Tucson to take on the University of Arizona Wildcats this Wednesday before coming back home for a three game weekend series against Tennessee Tech.
