Diamondbacks Welcome Rangers for Two-Game Set

The Arizona Diamondbacks will play host to the Texas Rangers for a quick two-game series beginning Tuesday night at Chase Field. Both games will begin at 6:40 PM Arizona time.

The Diamondbacks were expected by many (myself included) to be at the bottom of the tough National League West from the get-go. They may not look like world-beaters, but the Snakes are hanging around.

After taking two from the Dodgers in Arizona, the Diamondbacks went on to take a combined four games out of seven against the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants on the road. Those wins helped them complete their first winning road trip since July of last year.

Now, they return to Chase Field with a 7-6 record to take on the Rangers, who are coming off a heartbreaking loss. Texas enters play with a 5-8 record. They are yet to win a series this year after tying Oakland in a four-game set and losing their series against the Astros, Angels, and Mariners.

Here’s the big news of the day:

Unfortunately, that’s because of this:

Lamb has been a pleasant surprise for Arizona, but it will be interesting to see how Yasmany Tomas handles third base, a position he struggled with during spring training.

Tuesday’s pitchers will feature Chase Anderson for Arizona and Nick Martinez for the Rangers. Anderson is still searching for his first win on the year. His last start was promising, as he only allowed two runs to an intimidating San Diego lineup. Martinez is yet to allow an earned run in 14 innings pitched. Opponents are batting a meager .174 against the right-hander.

Wednesdays probables are Yovani Gallardo for Texas and young gun Archie Bradley for the Diamondbacks, who will face his third Opening Day starter in his third career start.

Here are the lineups for Tuesday.
