Arizona Coyotes AHL Report- 4/27/15
The Arizona Coyotes AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, are in the midst of their 1st round playoff series against the Manchester Monarchs. The Calder Cup’s 1st round feature a Best-of-Five series play. After the first three games, the Pirates trail the Monarchs 2-1.
The first game took place on Thursday and saw Manchester take home a 5-2 victory on home ice. Mike McKenna got the start but was pulled after two periods in favor of Louis Domingue. Jordan Szwarz and Henrik Samuelsson (both of which have spent time with the Coyotes), scored for the Pirates.

Philip Samuelsson, Patrick McNeill, Brendan Shinnimin, and Laurent Dauphin all assisted on the goals. Dauphin, along with Christian Dvorak and Brendan Perlini, have joined Portland after having played for their junior teams in the Memorial Cup playoffs in the CHL.
Game 2 was played on Saturday and saw the Monarchs take a commanding 2-0 series lead. Manchester scored two goals in the first 30 seconds, leading for McKenna to again be pulled in favor of Domingue. Later in the game, the Monarchs would go on to score 3 goals within a minute.

Philip Samuelsson and Shinnimin would score the goals for Portland. Dvorak, Henrik Samuelsson and Joel Hanley assisted on the goals. The result would see the Pirates return to Portland for Game 3 with the season on the line.
The series shifted to Portland, Maine for Game 3. After the first two periods, the score was tied up at 2-2. When it seemed like the game would enter overtime, Francis Wathier scored on behalf of Portland to give them the lead with less than 3 seconds left in regulation.

Louis Domingue saved 31 of 33 shots in the Pirates 1st victory of the series. Phil Lane and Eric Selleck scored the first two goals of the contest with Dylan Reese, Klas Dahlbeck, Brandon Gormley and Lucas Lessio among those that assisted.
With series now at 2-1, Game 4 will take place on Thursday in Portland.
