With the basketball recruiting period coming to an end, players are in no rush to decide where they will be spending the next 1-4 years. With Duke getting No. 3 ranked Brandon Ingram, Kansas nabbing No. 4 ranked Cheick Diallo and Mississippi State landing No. 8 ranked Malik Newman, big time recruits like Jaylen Brown and Thon Maker are soon going to make their decisions.

Although ASU has no shot at Brown, who is the No. 1 ranked player, they still have a serious shot at No. 9 ranked Maker.

Maker is a 7’0 PF/C that originally is from Sudan where he then moved to Australia, but again moved to the United States a couple years ago to improve on his basketball skill. He is a skinny guy, only weighing 205 pounds, but has the height and athleticism to shine.

More from Heat Waved

He recently just reclassified into the 2015 class after previously being apart of the  2016 class. He has 12 offers, all from Division-One schools.

Maker just recently played in the Nike Hoop Summit where he played for the World team. He only had two points, but grabbed 10 rebounds. He is one of the most NBA-ready players in the 2015 class and will soon announce his decision.

According to 24/7 sports, he is the no. 9 ranked recruit. The crystal ball on the website lists his top three schools as Kentucky being the leader at 33 percent, Arizona State at 29 percent, and Kansas at 24 percent, while Louisville and Missouri sit at a cool five percent each.

In the end, wherever Maker decides to go he will make an immediate impact. He will be one of the highest ranked recruits if the Sun Devils’ can make him theirs.

He most likely will be a one-and done player as he will probably enter the 2016 NBA draft. Playing overseas has also been an option for him, but Maker says it is highly unlikely he will take that route.

In my opinion, I think Maker will end up at Kentucky.  New ASU head coach Bobby Hurley will have to pull out the big guns to beat out Kentucky’s John Calipari and Kansas’ Bill Self.
