ASU Safety Damarious Randall Drafted by Packers
The Arizona State Sun Devils had a player chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, but his name wasn’t Jaelen Strong. His name is Damarious Randall.
The ASU safety was taken by the Green Bay Packers with the 30th overall pick and will join former Arizona State teammate Carl Bradford in Green Bay.
In college at Arizona State, Randall racked up 187 tackles and had two pick-sixes. Randall is the first Arizona State Sun Devil to be drafted since Terrell Suggs in 2003.
After an impressive showing at the NFL Combine, Randall shot up experts’ draft boards and got to hear his name called on the first day of the NFL Draft.
Randall will likely be called on to play cornerback in the Green Bay defensive sets with HaHa Clinton-Dix assuming a major role at safety. He will also likely be a starter at the beginning of the year if everything pans out in training camp.
In other Sun Devil news, Jaelen Strong did not hear his name called on Day One of the NFL Draft, but will likely hear his name called on Friday night on Day Two with the second and third rounds taking place. Day Two of the draft will begin at 4:00 p.m. MST from Chicago, Illinois.
From one Sun Devil to another, best of luck in Green Bay, Mr. Randall!
