Arizona Cardinals Draft Grade
By Omar Soussi
The NFL draft has passed us and now it’s time to grade how the Arizona Cardinals did throughout the entire draft. During this draft, the Cardinals got a lot of their needs and picked up the best players on their board. Lets start in the first round.

I liked the Cardinals first selection of offensive lineman DJ Humphries from Florida, as well as the pick of defensive lineman Markus Golden from Missouri in the second round.
They filled up two needs and also grabbed the best players that were still available. I do think that it was interesting that they took Golden and not Nebraska star d-lineman Randy Gregory, but they must have not wanted to deal with the off the field issues that would’ve came with him.
The third round pick of running back David Johnson from Northern Iowa was interesting. They could’ve kept improving the d-line but instead go grab a running back. He’ll be the big pounder of the running game that the team desperately needs and he will help out in the passing game as well.
With their fourth round pick, they scooped up d-lineman Rodney Gunter from Delaware State. He will fill a huge need with the loss of Dan Williams and Darnell Dockett.
After that, they took Shaquille Riddick, defensive end from West Virginia and JJ Nelson as a wide receiver from UAB in the fifth round. As their final pick, they took tight end from Louisville, Gerald Christian.
They got depth with these picks and got themselves players who can really ball out in special teams and at times play on the regular starting lineup.
Overall, I give the team a B+ for the Cardinals draft selections. The Cardinals filled up their needs, got the best players available while also acquiring depth. I would raise the Cardinals to an A if they got a top-five pass rusher, but they still landed some good defensive ends.
