YASMANY TOMAS – 3B

Can you say Rookie of the Year candidate? Call him the Cuban Ichiro or say he needs to loose a few pounds, Yasmany Tomas continues to surprise everyone with how well he is adapting to Major League Baseball.

Tomas is hitting .349 through since being called up on April 15. But before his MLB debut, his calling card was a player that could hit for massive power but struggled defensively. But since being inserted into the Diamondbacks lineup due to Jake Lamb’s injury, Tomas has turned into a base hit machine and to the surprise of baseball has been above average defensively at third base.

The average has steadily grown and in the Miami series, Tomas went 9 for 18 with three RBI’s and two doubles. While his power has been slower in coming, the Cuban star has started to show signs of his heralded power in the past two series. He has really started to turn on balls and even shown the ability to spray hits all over the field.
