Ahmed is on this list again because in the Diamondbacks past series against Miami he did exactly what he needed to do in order to stay on the Diamondbacks roster: knock the cover off the ball.

He came into the Miami series, hitting .133 and, with the hot-hiring Aaron Hill and Chris Owings, in danger to losing his roster spot. In the two games Ahmed played, he went 4 for 7 with two RBI’s a walk and a run scored. Boosting his average to .194, Ahmed is hitting .360 over his last 10 games so now the question now remains can he keep this up?

He’ll be facing some tough starting pitching in Lester, Arrieta and Hammel so now is make-or-break time for the shortstop.
