ASU’s Davon Durant Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor
Arizona State Linebacker Davon Durant pleaded guilty to a single count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct on Thursday.
Durant was accused of abusing his girlfriend and was facing allegations of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct following his arrest in March. The accuser recanted her claim officially a day later after the incident.
The offense for disorderly conduct could carry up to six months of jail time, and possible fines.
So what does this mean for his football career? It’s still up in the air right now. Durant is still under indefinite suspension from the football team. He will be under suspension until the legal process is complete. Arizona State also has to decide whether or not Durant violated its’ student code of conduct.
There’s a possibility that Durant could be suspended for part or all of the upcoming season, if he’s not expelled from the university.
Under Head Coach Todd Graham any player that has been arrested receives an automatic suspension, something that Graham has repeated since the arrest.
Durant was a heralded recruit as a junior-college prospect out of Kansas. He was given a 5-star rating making him Grahams first in his time at ASU. Durant transferred early so that he could take part in spring practices with ASU but, because of the arrest, never saw the field.
