Carson Palmer has been running around during Cardinal OTAs providing much hope for the upcoming year.

One trait that the Cardinals will be depending on to take them into the season will be the veteran leadership. Having a starting quarterback back under center with experience like Carson Palmer definitely helps.

The cardinals are depending on new guys to the locker-room, but not to the game, such as Mike Iupati. It’s hard to get a good look at how a player like Iupati will impact the team. Iupati is known for his physicality and toughness and OTA’s aren’t a time when that is put on display.

There has been a competition at the center position between Ted Larsen and A.Q. Shipley. As for the rookie first-round pick D.J. Humphries reports are that his progress as been slow and that he needs a bit more maturing.

As for the linebacking corps there may be more questions than answers. A quick answer would be Sean Witherspoon and Daryl Washington as the starters on the inside. However who knows what you could be getting out of those two.

Weatherspoon has missed 25 games in the past two seasons including all of 2014 with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Washington is coming off of a year-long suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Once reinstated he still faces discipline for a domestic violence incident in 2013.

Weatherspoon has been healthy and participating, but with Washington gone the Cardinals have been looking at 3rd year man Kevin Minter to pick up the slack.

Overall it’s still too early to get a beat on the players, especially up front. In a time before pads are on OTA’s are a time for acclimation.
