Cardinals: Michael Floyd Named to All-Underrated Team

Every year Elliot Harrison, NFL.com, comes out with his All-Underrated Team for the upcoming NFL season and Michael Floyd of the Arizona Cardinals was listed as one of the two wide receivers on Harrison’s list.

Floyd was paired with the Houston Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins as the two most underrated wide receivers in the NFL.

"Like Hopkins, Floyd had myriad mediocre quarterbacks … a mediocrity melee … a morass of mediocrity … throwing him passes last season in Arizona. After Carson Palmer was hurt, Floyd was left to work with Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley — and yet, Floyd succeeded. Larry Fitzgerald still gets the headlines in the desert, but Floyd is the Cardinals’ WR1. Also, unlike many wideouts, he can block."

Harrison highlights my favorite part about Floyd’s game in his ability to block downfield for his fellow teammates. After year’s of watching Anquan Boldin blocking downfield for his teammates, that is one of my favorite things that Floyd brings to the table.

Floyd, 25, went to the University of Notre Dame and will be entering his fourth NFL season in 2015.

He has been targeted at least 99 times in each of his past two seasons and had the best year of his career in 2013 when he caught 65 passes for 1,041 yards and five touchdowns.

The Cardinals will be relying on Floyd to have a breakout season with Larry Fitzgerald not being a top-tier wide receiver anymore. The offense’s success could easily be up to the connections between Carson Palmer and Floyd.

I have Floyd ranked as the 28th best wide receiver in the NFL this season and am predicting the Fighting Irish alum to have his second career 1,000+ yard season.
