Player Spotlight: WR Michael Floyd
Michael Floyd was the Arizona Cardinals’ first round pick (13th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of Notre Dame.
Floyd hasn’t quite lived up to his potential in the NFL just yet, but he could very well be on the brink of a great year with Carson Palmer back from injury. This combination has helped him earn a spot on the NFL’s All-Underrated Team for the 2015 season.

In three seasons (two as a starter), Floyd has charted 157 receptions, 2,444 receiving yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns. Floyd has shown flashes of greatness, but has never truly been exposed as a number one target in the Cardinals offense thanks to that Larry Fitzgerald guy. Floyd only has one season with at least 100 targets, resulting in a career-high 65 catches.
A glimmer of hope of a great 2015 is the fact that Floyd ranked 2nd in the NFL in 2014 in yards per catch (17.9) with back up quarterbacks playing the last 10 weeks of the season. This number could very well stick with Palmer back in 2015 because Floyd ranked 10th in the league in 2013 in YPC (16.0) with Palmer healthy.
Having other wide receiver weapons could also help Floyd this year, statistically, and could definitely help out the Cardinals in the win column. Having a guy like John Brown explode onto the stage was a beautiful sight last season. Fitzgerald may be regressing, but he still has absolutely tremendous hands and is also looking for a bounce back season this year.
Floyd is tremendous in stretching the field and with Palmer back, which seems to be the moral of the story for the entire Cardinals offense this season, Floyd could be poised to finally have his true “breakout” season.
