Diamondbacks Complete Sweep Against Giants
When the Arizona Diamondbacks (30-32) started their series with the San Francisco Giants (34-30), they were sitting in last place in the NL West. After a three game seep of the Giants the Diamondbacks are now only six and half games back in the division and four and half out of the wildcard.
The D-Backs were able to get outstanding pitching and just enough offense to overpower the Giants in San Francisco. Early offense was key in ever victory, and combine that with near perfect games by all three of Arizona’s starters, it made for the teams third sweep of the year.

Saturday:
Diamondbacks 4, Giants 2
For the second night in a row a Diamondbacks’ pitcher carried a no-hitter into the later innings, and again the Giants break it up.
Allen Webster (1-0) was called up from the AAA Reno Aces to pitch this game, replacing Josh Collmenter, who went to the bullpen. He was able to fool Giants hitters into the 6th inning before Joe Panik doubled. Webster went five and two-thirds innings, giving up two hits and two earned runs in the win. Brad Ziegler (8) gets his second save in a row.
Ryan Vogelsong (4-5) did not have as strong of start, going only three and two-thirds innings. He gave up six hits and four runs in the loss.
Arizona got out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning. David Peralta singled to drive in Paul Goldschmidt, and then Vogelsong walked in two more runs. The D-Backs got their insurance run in the 4th after Goldschmidt singled to score Nick Ahmed.
The two Giants’ runs came in the 6th when Angel Pagan hit a sacrifice fly scoring Nori Aoki, then Buster Posey doubles to score Joe Panik.

Sunday:
Diamondbacks 4, Giants 0
The Arizona Diamondbacks got their third series sweep of the season with yet another shutout victory of the San Francisco Giants.
For the third game in a row the Diamondbacks got out to an early lead when Brandon Crawford committed an error scoring Jake Lamb. They were able to add on more with a Chris Owings bases loaded double in the 5th to score Ender Inciarte and Paul Goldschmidt. The D-Backs got their final run in the 6th off an AJ Pollock sac fly to score Inciarte.
Once again the Diamondbacks pitching was flawless. Starter Rubby De La Rosa (5-3) went into the 9th giving up eight hits, while surrendering no runs. De La Rosa tied to go for the complete gave shutout, but gave up a hit in the 9th. Daniel Hudson (1) came in for the same, his first of the season.
Chris Heston (6-5) preformed well, giving up seven hits and three runs in five innings of work. Heston did not have very much help behind him as the Giants committed three errors in the game.
Coming out of this game Paul Goldschmidt is currently leading the league in batting average, hitting .359.
