Cardinals Player Spotlight: WR John Brown

John Brown was a very pleasant surprise for the Cardinal’s offense providing a big play threat for the receiving corps.

Brown was a star at Pittsburgh State. In 2011 he was named to second team on the AP Little All-American list as an all-purpose player. He led the Gorillas to the Division II National Championship.

Brown finished his collegiate career as Pitt State’s all-time leader in receptions (185), receiving yards (3,380), and receiving touchdowns (34). His receiving years ranked fifth all time in MIAA history.

Brown was drafted in the third round out. From the first game Brown established himself as an early contributor for the cardinals offense. In his professional debut on Monday Night Football he caught his first NFL touchdown pass.

Brown had his first multi-touchdown game in week three against the San Francisco 49ers. Possibly his most memorable moment of the season came at the expense of the Philadelphia Eagles defense, when he caught a game winning 75-yard touchdown pass. Brown became the first rookie with 4 game winning touchdown catches.

Alright Cardinal fans lets be realistic here, Larry Fitzgerald will retire (and surely isn’t getting any younger) and this is essentially a make or break year for Michael Floyd. John Brown was a great shot in the arm for the Cardinals offense that could really use a consistent deep threat.

With two valid QB’s on the roster that can really wing the ball like Palmer or Stanton plus another year in the offense I’m predicting a bigger year for Brown.
