De La Rosa will get the start Friday opposite of James Shields.

It is expected to be a great pitcher’s dual despite De La Rosa’s 5.27 ERA. De La Rosa has had a lot of success so far this season against San Diego.

He has beaten the Padres twice, including his May 7 start where he pitched seven shutout innings.

In his last outing on Sunday, he threw eight shutout innings against the San Francisco Giants to help the D-backs complete a three-game sweep.

There’s no doubt he’s locked in right now and he has pitched extremely well at home. While the ERA is a little high at home, (5.30), he is undefeated at Chase Field this season with a 3-0 record.

So with Shields 7-0 overall this season and De La Rosa 3-0 at home, we are in for a real treat during the opener on Friday.
