Rockies Take the Series from Diamondbacks

Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 10

The Arizona Diamondbacks took the lead early, but a six run 5th inning took the D-Backs out of the game.

Welington Castillo (5) gave the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead in the second, when he hit a two-run home run, driving in David Peralta. Nick Ahmed (4) have Arizona a 3-0 lead just a couple of pitches later, as he hit a home run to left field. The Rockies got a run back in the bottom of the second off a Nick Hundley single that drove in Wilin Rosario, and then in the fourth Nolan Arenado (18) homered to cut the D-Backs lead to one. In the fifth AJ Pollock (9) hit a home run to right field to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 lead.

The bottom of the fifth was when the Rockies took advantage of a tiring Chase Anderson. The scoring started with a Charlie Blackmon double that drove in Brandon Barnes, and then Troy Tulowitzki singled to drive in Blackmon, tying the game. Just a few pitches later Arenado (19) homers to drive in DJ LeMahieu, and Tulowitzki, giving the Rockies a 7-4 lead. To finish off the inning Rosario (5) homers to give the Rockies a four run lead. Colorado added another run in the 7th when LeMahieu (4) homered to left.

The Diamondbacks got one more run when Aaron Hill grounded out, scoring Paul Goldschmidt. Colorado’s final run came in the eight when Barnes (1) hit a home run.

Rockies’ starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick (3-9) went six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits.

Diamondbacks’ Chase Anderson (3-2) allowed eight runs on eight hits in just four and two-thirds innings.
