Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 7

A back a fourth game, lead to a closers first unsuccessful save of the season and a Diamondbacks win.

The Rockies got out to a 2-0 lead in the first when DJ LeMahieu hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring Charlie Blackmon, then Troy Tulowitzki singled to drive in LeMahieu. In the second Colorado added one more run with a Nick Hundley (6) home run.

The Diamondbacks tied up the game in the fourth with a pair of doubles from Jake Lamb and Chris Owings, then a single by Nick Ahmed. In the fifth Paul Goldschmidt (20) gave the Diamondbacks the lead with a two-run home run; D-Backs lead 5-3.

In the bottom of the fifth the Rockies got back in front, starting with a Nolan Arenado single that drove in Charlie Blackmon. Wilin Rosario singled to score Tulowitzki, then Nick Hundley walked with the bases loaded, and finally Brandon Barnes hit into a force out that scored Ben Paulsen.

The Diamondbacks found their bats in the ninth. Against John Axford, who was perfect in save situations, Arizona was able to get three runs. Yasmany Tomas singled in David Peralta, and then Jarrod Saltalamacchia walked with the bases loaded, scoring Goldschmidt. The winning run came off the bat of Aaron Hill, with a sac fly to score Tomas.

Allen Webster (1-1) went four and one-thirds innings, allowing six hits for five runs, in a no-decision. Reliever, Daniel Hudson (2-2), got the win after pitching the eight inning allowing no hits and striking one batter out. Brad Ziegler (11) pitched a perfect ninth and got the save.

David Hale (2-2) went four and two-thirds innings giving up eight hits and five runs, but was given a no- decision. John Axford (1-1) gave up three hits and three runs in just two-thirds of an inning. Axford (1) had his first blown save of the season and his second against the Diamondbacks, the other last June at Chase Field.
