Johnson will likely slot into the Pistons starting lineup at the SF position as Cartier Martin, Tayshaun Prince, and Quincy Miller are the other small forwards on the Pistons roster at the moment. Obviously things can shake up a bit during free agency, but as of right now I would love to see Johnson as a starter in Detroit.
Johnson is from Southern California and attended Mater Dei High School before attending the University of Arizona. Johnson played in 38 games in his freshman year at Arizona before entering the draft this year. He averaged 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals on the year as he led the Wildcats to the Elite Eight.
The Arizona basketball program has been known to push out NBA-caliber athletes and Johnson joins the list of numerous Arizona Wildcat alum to join the NBA after his time in Tucson.
