2. Which prospect was grabbed far too early in your opinion?
EB: I feel like the Boston Celtics took a gamble by selecting Terry Rozier out of Louisville with the 16th pick over Jerian Grant, Delon Wright, and Tyus Jones. I do like what Rozier brings to the table as far as toughness and scoring the basketball, but to be selected over guys who 1) have better size (with the exception of Jones), 2) have better potential and 3) are more likely to make an impact faster is just too much of a gamble.
BK: I am going to go with my Arizona State Sun Devil heart here and say that Stanley Johnson was grabbed too early. I wouldn’t say he was grabbed “far too early”, but just a few picks before I thought he would go. The most surprising part of him being taken 8th overall to the Detroit Pistons was the fact that Duke small forward Justise Winslow was still available on the draft board. I personally think that Winslow’s skill set is more advanced than Johnson’s and I also believe that Winslow is more ready to produce at the NBA level right from the get-go than Johnson. Miami got a steal with Winslow at 10th overall.
