Game 1:
The Rockies would plate the first run of the series on an RBI single by their starting pitcher Chris Rusin in the fifth inning but that lead would prove to be short-lived when A.J. Pollock hit his 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 1.
Later in the sixth, David Peralta would rope a triple to right field that would push across two more runs for Arizona. The Diamondbacks went right back to work at the plate in the seventh inning when Yasmany Tomas and Aaron Hill each delivered a two-run double to increase the lead to 7-1.
The D-Backs added another run thanks to an error by the Rockies to make the score 8-1. Jeremy Hellickson rebounded really well from his last outing in which he gave up seven runs to San Diego. Hellickson tossed seven strong innings in this start while only allowing one run on three hits including six strikeouts.
Seven different Diamondback hitters recorded a hit in this game including Goldschmidt (2-4), Pollock (2-5, RBI).
Tomas, Hill and Peralta each had 2 RBI’s.
Final score: D-Backs 8, Rockies 1
