Game 3:

With the 4th of July festivities going on all over the country, it seemed only fitting that the D-Backs provided some fireworks with their bats to start the third game of this series.

Yasmany Tomas grounded into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded but it was enough to score Pollock from third. Following the Tomas at-bat, Lamb would rope a single up the middle to score Peralta and make the score 2-0 after one inning of play.

Colorado would respond in the third inning. Blackmon delivered an RBI double and would score immediately after that when DJ LeMahieu singled to tie the score at 2.

Arizona quickly regained control in the bottom of the fourth when Pollock delivered a crucial double that drove in Owings and Ahmed to make the score 4-2. The Rockies cut it back to one in the top of the eighth when Rosario grounded into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded that scored LeMahieu.

The Diamondbacks would provide some insurance runs in the bottom frame. Pennington came in to pinch hit and dropped down a bunt single that scored Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Rosario would commit a throwing error that would allow Nick Ahmed to score and move Pennington all the way to third.

Peralta slapped a single into left center field that would bring Pennington home from third and make the score 7-3. Patrick Corbin gave up two runs on eight hits and that was good enough for him to earn his first victory of the season. Saltalamacchia and Pollock each recorded two hits as well.

Final score: D-Backs 7, Rockies 3
