I feel like Hunter Pence is one of the more under-appreciated talents currently in the major leagues. Although he isn’t a superstar, I think he’s more important to this Giants team than many people understand.

In my opinion, this team will go as far as Pence takes them. Nothing he does is mechanically sound (seriously, watch him do pretty much anything and it won’t look correct), but he does it really well. He’s solid defensively, he has surprising power and speed, and he’s a presence in that lineup.

He also sports a .313 batting average at Chase Field and absolutely feasts on Sunday’s starter Patrick Corbin; in 19 at-bats, Pence is hitting a ridiculous .474 with three home runs against the southpaw.

He also showcased his power in last weeks’ clobbering of Cole Hamels and the Phillies as he sent a ball over the right field wall for a grand slam. Look for Pence to cause some damage this weekend.
