Game 3:
Arizona looked to avoid being swept to start the second half of their season but they would have to take down Madison Bumgarner to do so. Patrick Corbin would be faced with taking the mound and matching the World Series MVP.
Bumgarner’s offense would provide the first run of the game in the second inning courtesy of a Justin Maxwell home run. Corbin would help his own cause in the bottom of the second with the bases loaded. Corbin reached on a fielder’s choice allowing Welington Castillo to score to tie the game at 1.
San Francisco answered in the third. Hunter Pence roped an RBI double to score Panik and swing the lead back to 2-1 in favor of the Giants.
Amazingly enough, that would be the last run scored in the game. The starters (Bumgarner and Corbin) and each respective bullpen would perform very nicely. The Giants would close out the series and earn a sweep.
Final score: Giants 2, D-Backs 1
