For the third consecutive day, the D-backs scored in the top of the 1st inning. This time though, they tacked on four runs and put the pressure on the Mariners early in the game.

The man himself, Paul Goldschmidt, got things going with a two-RBI single to left field that scored Inciarte and A.J. Pollock.

Later on, Castillo homered with Goldschmidt aboard to make it 4-0 D-backs.

Castillo would have himself a day, smashing another homer in top of the 4th inning to make it a 5-0 ballgame. Castillo picked up home run numbers 9 and 10 on the year.

The Mariners answered with their first run of the game in the bottom of the 4th when Miller hit an RBI single to left to score Kyle Seager.

The D-backs, meanwhile, added two more runs in the 7th and another in the 8th to make 8-1 going into the bottom of the 8th.

The Mariners added their second and final run in the bottom of the 8th on a ground-rule RBI double by Franklin Gutierrez.

And that was all she wrote for the M’s, who have now dropped to 10 games below .500 and 11 games back in the AL West.

Seattle will now head up to Minnesota to take on the Twins for a four-game series beginning on Thursday as they start a seven-game road trip.

The D-backs, meanwhile, will enjoy an off-day Thursday before they head to Houston to take on the Astros for three games beginning on Friday night.
