Game Three:
The rubber match between these two teams would prove to be more of a pitching duel than the previous two games. Robbie Ray got the start for Arizona going up against Collin McHugh.
Once again, the D-Backs drew first blood thanks to a double by Jake Lamb that allowed Castillo to score all the way from first base.
Houston would tie it in the bottom frame of the second inning when Chris Carter popped a sacrifice fly to center field allowing Jed Lowrie to score.
Carlos Gomez was playing in only his third game with the Astros since being traded at the deadline and he came to the plate in a crucial spot during the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Gomez beamed an opposite field single allowing two runs to score to give his new team a 3-1 lead.
Evan Gattis tacked on another run in the fifth when he lined a solo homer to right field to make the score 4-1. From that point, McHugh and the Houston bullpen would slam the door on the Arizona offense and win the series for the Astros. McHugh threw seven rock solid innings only allowing one run and striking out six batters.
Final score: Astros 4, D-Backs 1
