Cardinals: Michael Floyd Injured, Out About Six Weeks

The Cardinals had some serious news come out of training camp on Wednesday when news broke that Michael Floyd will miss about six weeks due to three broken fingers on his left hand.

Thankfully, for the Cardinals sake, their wide receiver depth is tremendous. Larry Fitzgerald will obviously become the number one wide receiver option for Carson Palmer and John Brown will line up aside Fitzgerald in the starting lineup.

In actuality, Floyd may only miss one game.

Six weeks from now is September 16th and week one of the NFL season is September 13th when the Cardinals host the New Orleans Saints. Who knows what “roughly six weeks” means however. He could be out for longer than six weeks and miss possibly two games, but best case scenario he could miss zero regular season games or just week one.

Floyd is coming off of a 47 reception, 841 yard, six touchdown season and had high hopes of returning to his 1,000 yard-plus self with Carson Palmer back under center.

Brown will assume first-team reps for the remainder of training camp and during the four preseason games with Floyd sidelined. The injury time-table could have been a whole lot worse, but Floyd will be ready to roll early on in the 2015 season.
