Game Three

Diamondbacks 4, Reds 3

The pattern continued in game three with Arizona jumping ahead 1-0 in the first inning. The 1-0 lead didn’t last too long as Cincinnati struck back with two runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. The Diamondbacks scored two runs of their own in the fifth inning to grab the lead back. The scoring wasn’t done there though. The Reds managed to tie the game up at three in the seventh inning. Nine innings wasn’t enough to finish this one and we were headed to extra innings.

Arizona managed to load the bases in the 10th inning and Chris Owings singled in the game winning run to walk Arizona off and into a series win.

Patrick Corbin got the start and was much better than his last outing against Washington. He wasn’t the Corbin of old, but he’s getting there. Sunday’s start was another step in the right direction for him getting back to his old self. He did give up a few hits, but was able to work out of most of the jams he was in.

Paul Goldschmidt doubled in a run in the first inning and with that RBI, Goldschmidt tied Matt Williams with 381 runs batted in which is the fifth most in franchise history.

David Peralta went five for five in Sunday’s game with an RBI.

Corbin’s final line: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Winning Pitcher: Josh Collmenter (4-6)

Losing Pitcher: Ryan Mattheus (1-3)

After series win, the Diamondbacks are now 54-56 . The home stand at Chase Field continues on Monday at 6:40 as the Philadelphia Phillies come to town to take on Arizona in a three game series.
