Game 1:
The Reds gained the upper hand to start the series by scoring four runs in the first two innings. Jay Bruce executed a sacrifice fly to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The Reds followed with a flurry of hits off of starting pitcher Patrick Corbin in the second inning. Tucker Barnhart wrapped up an RBI single to start the scoring frenzy. Jason Bourgeois followed with a triple to score Barnhart and Eugenio Suarez singled to center field in the next at-bat to make the score 4-0 after two innings.
The D-Backs would finally respond in the fifth inning when Chris Owings slammed a solo home run to get Arizona on the board. Later in the inning with Ender Inciarte on base, A.J. Pollock delivered a single to score Inciarte to make the score 4-2.
Arizona would take command in the sixth inning thanks to two more big hits by Owings and Pollock. Owings came through with an RBI single that was followed by a two run single by A.J. Pollock to give the Diamondbacks a 5-4 lead.
David Hernandez, Daniel Hudson and Brad Ziegler would shut down the Cincinnati offense from there to earn a win in the series opener.
