Diamondbacks Gain Momentum, Sweep Reds

Game 2:

The Reds got the quick start in the first game of the series but the Diamondbacks would jump out to a big lead first in this game. A.J. Pollock started the festivities right away in the first inning by roping a solo homer to left field.

The fourth inning proved to be a crucial one for Arizona. Yasmany Tomas started the inning with a solo shot which was then followed later in the inning with a sacrifice fly by Inciarte to plate another run to make the score 3-0.

Wellington Castillo capped off the inning by slapping a single with the bases loaded to score two runs and make the score, 5-0.

The Reds attempted to make a comeback starting in the sixth inning when Jay Bruce grounded out to second but allowed Todd Frazier to score from third. In the seventh inning, Bourgeois would tally an RBI single to cut the D-Back lead to three.

Cincinnati tacked on another run in the eighth when Joey Votto launched a home run to left field making the score 5-3. Arizona would add an insurance run in the ninth thanks to an Aaron Hill sacrifice fly. Ziegler would slam the door on the Reds and give the Diamondbacks another win.

Final score: D-Backs 6, Reds 3
