The Arizona Diamondbacks will travel to Denver to take on the Colorado Rockies in an interesting series, to say the least. There will be four games in a span of three days as there will be a double-header on Tuesday to make up a missed game from earlier in the season. Another interesting factor in this series is that it is the beginning of September so we could be seeing some prospects get called up and try to contribute.

Here are the pitching matchups for this series:

Robbie Ray vs. Chad Bettis (Monday August 31)

Ray is coming off a dreadful outing against the St. Louis Cardinals. In that start, he only lasted three innings, giving up six runs on five hits and also walking five batters and the D-Backs went on to lose 9-1. Ray has been the loser in each of his last five starts and has been on the receiving end of some bad fortune as he often receives little to no run support. Ray’s record now sits at 3-10 while sporting an ERA of 3.82.

Bettis, however, is coming off a decent outing against the Atlanta Braves. He went five innings, only gave up one run on five hits, while walking two and striking out four. Bettis has only started 15 games for the Rockies and has been average at best. His record sits at 6-4 with an ERA of 4.57.
