The final game of this series was a bit closer than the other two.

Andrew Cashner pitched really well, going seven innings, gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out six. Cashner has been struggling lately and has had a high ERA all season, but he seemed to have his good stuff tonight.

Robbie Ray wasn’t as sharp as he would have liked in this one. Ray couldn’t escape the fifth inning as he only lasted 4 2/3 innings, while giving up four runs on six hits and struck out four. What drove Ray out of the game was a three-run home run by Matt Kemp with two outs in the fifth. Ray’s pitch count was already getting up there, so he was removed right after the Kemp homer.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 4-3, but that was not enough as the D-Backs lost by that same score, thus losing the series.

The D-Backs wrapped up their nine-game home stand only winning four of those games. They will now hit the road for 10 games as they take on the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. The trip starts on Friday as they will face the Giants, as it will be Rubby De La Rosa vs. Madison Bumgarner. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. local time.
