The Arizona Cardinals will host the Green Bay Packers in an NFC Divisional matchup on Saturday with a spot in the NFC Championship game on the line, but the Packers will be without wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Arizona Cardinals opened as touchdown favorites against the Green Bay Packers for their NFC playoff and their odds of winning only look better now with the likeliness that the Packers could very well be without wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Packers wide receiving corps have had a very difficult time staying healthy all year long. Jordy Nelson tore his ACL on a non-contact injury, followed by Randall Cobb spraining his AC joint in his shoulder, and even Adams sprained his ankle earlier in the season. On top of these injuries, rookie wide out from Stanford, Ty Montgomery, has already been placed on the injured reserve for his injuries.

Adams is now struggling with a MCL sprain and has been labeled as “unlikely” to play against the Cardinals. To this point, the Packers have not held a practice leading up to Saturday’s game, but will hold their first practice of the week on Wednesday.

Adams injured himself in the Packers NFC Wild Card matchup against the Washington Redskins last weekend. Aaron Rodgers had thrown a quick slant pass to Adams along the sideline and when Adams dove for the first down line, he was swallowed up from behind. Fellow Packer teammate Richard Rodgers had fallen on top of Adams from behind that resulted in Adams’ knee twisting toward his chest.

Before leaving the game (and not returning to the contest) Adams had caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. At first, the belief was that Adams could have torn his ACL, but after the game the team ran more tests on Adams’ knee and the damage to his MCL was detected and labeled as a sprain.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy broke down the potential players that may miss Saturday’s game by saying, “Obviously Davante or any of the guys that have things coming out of the game will have a better read on [them Wednesday].”

With Adams potentially missing the game on Saturday, it opens up extra opportunities for Richard Rodgers to produce in the red zone as one of Aaron Rodgers’ main targets. James Jones also figures to be more involved with the offense and Jared Abbrederis will slot into the WR3 role for the Packers.
