The Diamondbacks showed how they deep they are this past weekend taking two of three from the Padres in San Diego. The next four games will take place at AT&T Park in San Francisco against the Giants.

This all came even with sub-par play from first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. The former All-Star has not been impressive this season hitting a mere .204 with only three homeruns. Historically Goldschmidt hasn’t hit that well at Petco. Over the past three years he has only hit .238 in the pitchers park. But his season can quickly turn around this week as the he and the Diamondbacks head up the coast to San Francisco. Since 2012 Goldy has hit .341 at AT&T slapping 6 homeruns and 28 RBI.

It will be no easy task this week in the Bay as the Giants consistently play well at AT&T in which they nearly always sell out. On Monday night Archie Bradley make his season debut for the Diamondbacks and square off against the former CY Young award winner Jake Peavy.

Bradley made some serious noise last year beginning the season by beating two of the best in NL West or even the best in the NL.  His effective pitching lead to him beating Clayton Kershaw in his first start and matched that with helping his team get a victory versus Madison Bumgarner in his second start. His season was cut short after taking a line drive to the face and after that he didn’t pitch the same. Hopefully he can regain his confidence and find his past self in his first start of the season.

In the second game of the series Matt Cain will face off against the Diamondbacks Robbie Ray. Cain has lost his effectiveness over the past few years as he has only notched 7 wins compared to 13 losses at AT&T since 2013. In that time frame he has a 4.14 ERA versus the Diamondbacks.

If Robbie Ray can throw as well as he has been this year, in which he has posted a 2.92 ERA the best on the team, it could make for a successful outing for the young left-hander.

The two final games of this four game set will be where it proves to be especially difficult. Even though Greinke will be on the hill he will have to face off against Madison Bumgarner who is always a tough counterpart.

Both are good hitters as well so there will be no easy outs in this game. In the final game of this four games series on Thursday, a player that will be announced later will pitch against Johnny Cueto. The giants pitcher has been very effective since donning the orange and black, tallying three wins in three starts and posting a 3.38 ERA.

If Yasmany Tomas comes through as well as he did against the Padres in their weekend set where he had 7 hits and 3 RBI including 2 homeruns in the final game of the series, the Diamondbacks could make it interesting against the tough Giants starting pitchers.

It is an even year, so the Diamondbacks should know that this Giants team is dangerous and taking 3 out 4 would be huge for team morale as well as helping move their season back in the right direction.

Overall, this series will be a win for the Diamondbacks as long as they don’t wear the terrible uniforms that they have repped since the beginning of this season.
