The Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks, currently sit at 12-15, but we could see a couple of the Aces stars called up to the Diamondbacks in the very near future.

If it weren’t for the Arizona Diamondbacks leading the Major Leagues in home runs with 40, we could be seeing Peter O’Brien in Phoenix. However, power isn’t the Diamondbacks dire need at the moment, but if injuries are to occur at the MLB level, O’Brien could get chosen to help out the big league club.

O’Brien is slashing .337/.337/.653 in 24 games this season with eight home runs and 22 RBI. He has struck out a gaudy 27 times compared to being walked one time, but his power levels outweigh his inability to draw walks for now.

Despite the struggles of the Diamondbacks starting pitching, Archie Bradley remains in Triple-A for now. In five starts, Bradley holds a 3-1 record with a 2.45 ERA, while striking out 34 batters in just 25.2 innings. He is holding opposing hitters to a measly .209 batting average. It would not surprise me much if Bradley was brought up to help out the Diamondbacks in May or June.

In addition to Bradley’s great pitching, Braden Shipley has also turned in some terrific performances in the early season. Shipley is 2-1 with a 3.26 ERA in five starts and has yet to give up a home run in 30.1 innings thus far. Shipley is limiting baserunners better than Bradley actually as Shipley’s WHIP currently sits at a 1.15, while Bradley’s sits at a 1.25.

Reno is currently 5th in the Pacific Coast League in home runs and 7th in batting average at the dish. The Aces trail the first place Tacoma Rainiers by 3.5 games. They sit just 0.5 games behind second place Fresno and are 0.5 games ahead of last place Sacramento in a highly contested Northern division of the PCL.

The Aces won 3-2 on Thursday in Fresno to split the four game series. Tyler Wagner pitched six innings for the Aces and only giving up one run in doing so. Sócrates Brito finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI, in which both runs scored on a two-run triple.
