Arizona Coyotes Hire Segal, Extend Sullivan and Brown

The Arizona Coyotes have announced that the team has named Ari Segal as the new Chief Operating Officer. In addition to that, the Coyotes have also announced that Newell Brown and Steve Sullivan have signed multi-year contract extensions.

Brown will serve as an assistant coach and Sullivan has been promoted to Director of Player Development for the Coyotes.

Segal brings an educated and experienced mind to the Coyotes business operations. He received an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and previously worked in the Anaheim Ducks’ organization as President of Business Operations for Anaheim’s AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. Segal also served three years as a Special Assistant to Ducks’ CEO Michael Schulman.

Aside from Segal’s work with the Ducks’ organization, he spent some time in New York working with the NHL’s broadcast media strategy group as well.

The team is strengthening the business foundation of the organization with the hiring of Segal. Given his successful work with Gulls, this is a good hire as the team begins ownership of their own AHL affiliate.

Brown’s position with the team will likely stay the same as he’s been in charge of the Coyotes’ power play unit since the 2013-14 season.

Sullivan has been with team since September of 2014 working on the player development side of things.

He’ll continue his work in that department along with working with players and coaches in Tucson with the Coyotes currently unnamed AHL affiliate.

As per the the team’s policy, monetary figures and length of the contract extensions have not been disclosed.

The Coyotes have been very busy this offseason restructuring the front office and management sides of the organization and that continues with these announcements

The team is still not done on this front as they are expecting to hire a veteran hockey mind to fill the Assistant General Manager position.
