Phoenix Suns: What to Know about the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Phoenix Suns (15-29) will host the Minnesota Timberwolves (16-28) after a three-game road trip. A win tonight will make it a season-high three game win-streak.
The Phoenix Suns are playing surprisingly well as of late, and are looking to make it three consecutive wins tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Suns are getting back from a rough three-game road trip that could have been ugly for Earl Watson and his squad. They played three games in four cities, and two match-ups against the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.
Instead, after a 15-point loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Suns bounced back with two-straight wins against the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors. They’ll look to make it a season-high three-game winning streak tonight at home against the Timberwolves.
After a 53-loss season last year, the Wolves seem to be headed towards another campaign that ends with a sub-500 record. Their record currently stands at 16-28, which is good for last place in their Northwest Division.
It probably didn’t help their cause that they started off the season with a 1-5 record. And like the Suns, they’ve failed to be consistent when it comes to winning. They’ve only won back-to-back games on three different occasions this year, and have a season-high win-streak of three.
The Timberwolves, lead by head coach Tom Thibodeau, are ranked 19th in the league for an average of 103.3 points per game. They’re the second-worst team in the league when it comes to three-point shooting, too, thanks to 7.8 made threes per game.
Minnesota has their defensive woes to worry about as well. They give up an average of 104.3 points per game. It isn’t rocket science to realize that if you give up more points than you score, chances are you’ll lose. A lot.
It’s exactly what’s happening to this team, which results in a .364 winning percentage and a 21.5-game margin from the first place spot.
It’s too bad, really. The Wolves have an exciting lineup full of potential with guys like Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine, and Andrew Wiggins. But just like the Suns, it’s a young team that lacks experience.

Fresh off of their 14th and 15th wins of the season, the Suns are playing well and continue to put up a good number of points. Against this Minnesota team, Phoenix should enjoy their season-best third consecutive win tonight.
