One Big (Bird) Exclusion

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s hard to get on them too much for the list. After all, it’s not something they’re required to do or anything, it was a nice gesture and one that took a ton of effort on their part.

However, when making a list of Arizona Diamondbacks’ moments — one that you accompany with the word ‘unforgettable’ — how can you leave out the poor bird that Randy Johnson demolished with a fastball during spring training in 2001? Besides the team’s obvious No.1 moment, their World Series win, it’s like, one of the most memorable moments ever to fans outside of Arizona.

I mean, the two most-viewed YouTube videos for Randy Johnson are BOTH of him hitting that poor bird. Additionally, Douglas Main of Newsweek honored the infamous pitch with a 15th-anniversary write-up alongside bird experts and plenty lofty statements.

From the Newsweek feature:

"Now, 15 years later, the event remains iconic, and the Big Unit says he gets asked about the incident nearly as much as he does about winning the World Series later that year with the Arizona Diamondbacks."

You could argue that it’s grouped into their ‘Randy Johnson’s Historic Games’ (No.6) choice, yet upon further review, it’s not included in the video.

Official ruling: They forgot one of the best unforgettable moments from Arizona’s baseball history. At the very least, they should of had it included with No.6.
