January 4th, 2003

In what has to be Herm Edwards’ biggest win as a head coach, the New York Jets whooped up on Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Wild Card game on January 4th, 2003. The final score? 41-0.

This game, unlike the previous two playoff games mentioned, was at home for Edwards — played at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

Edwards’ defense held Manning and company to just 176 yards of total offense while putting up 396 of their own. And like a typical Edwards’ team, they didn’t turn the ball over and committed only three penalties for 30 yards.

Running back LaMont Jordan rushed for over 100 yards on 20 carried, adding two touchdowns in the process, while quarterback Chad Pennington completed 19 of 25 passes with three touchdowns.

Unfortunately, the Jets were handily beat in their next game 30-10 by the Super Bowl-bound Oakland Raiders.
