No. 3 and No. 2

(#3) Adrian Peterson — Week 6, 10/15/2017

After battling with New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, NFL legend Adrian Peterson was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals for a 2018 conditional sixth-round pick. To say his debut was shocking would be an understatement. After all, AP looked done in New Orleans (four games, 81 rushing yards).

In Arizona’s exciting 38-33 win over Tampa Bay, Adrian Peterson went bananas. In turn, the coaching staff kept feeding him the rock. By games end, he had piled up 134 yards on 26 carries, complete with two touchdown runs. Two weeks later, he’d tote the pigskin 37 times for 159 yards.

Game Stats: 26 carries, 134 yards, 2 touchdowns

(#2) David Johnson — Week 15, 12/20/2015

Later in the season, Chris Johnson got hurt right before he went over 1,000 yards on the season. It was a bummer at the time but it also opened the door for David Johnson. In his third game getting the bulk of the carries, the rookie went off.

In another blowout victory, 40-7 over Philadelphia, Johnson ran the ball 29 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Through the air, the first-year back grabbed all four balls thrown his way for 42 yards. Johnson’s current quarterback, Sam Bradford, was the quarterback for the Eagles during his breakout game.

This performance was Johnson’s first-ever 100-yard game. The rest, as they say, is history.

Game Stats: 29 carries, 187 yards, 3 touchdowns

And the best rushing performance is…
